A simple privacy note.
Newsletter signups
When you subscribe, we save your email address, the date you signed up, and your agreement to receive the Highlander newsletter. Publication administrators can access this list to manage subscriptions and prepare newsletter mailings.
Signing up does not create a reader account. We do not display subscriber addresses publicly or sell them. Newsletter mailings will include an unsubscribe link. Following that link and confirming removes your address from the website’s signup list.
Website and staff access
Staff sign-in uses a session cookie so editors can manage reports. Hosting services may process basic request information for reliability and abuse prevention. Newsletter requests use a temporary, hashed network identifier to limit repeated submissions.
Optional website analytics
When you choose “Allow analytics,” we use Google Analytics to understand visits, traffic sources, page views, engagement, scroll milestones and successful newsletter form submissions. Google processes technical information such as browser, device and approximate location. Analytics cookies help distinguish visits. We do not send newsletter email addresses to Google Analytics or enable advertising personalization.
You can decline analytics and still use the website. Use “Analytics preferences” at the bottom of the page to change your choice. Your preference is saved in this browser for six months; withdrawing permission stops future collection in this browser but does not remove previously collected data.

Links to social profiles, photo sources, and Highlander Trading Cards take you to separate websites with their own privacy practices.
